Beyond Print with Stitch – Gaye Nieuwenhof
February 5 2025 @ 10:00 AM - February 7 2025 @ 4:30 PM
$370.00Gaye Nieuwenhof has been creating and exhibiting her work for many years along with teaching various techniques to help inspire others. Her inspiration is always the environment and although the imagery is abstract in nature, that echo remains. The alchemy of materials and how they can be utilised to produce art has always fascinated her. This can come about in many forms and sees prosaic materials being used for purposes for which they were never intended. Texture, tone and line always appear in her work which creates visual excitement.
As an artist and an educator, Gaye strives to inspire and imbue her students with the passion for art. Combining various, often unorthodox media to create unique pieces, she assists all her students to develop their distinct artistic voice, while understanding and appreciating the diversity of the world of art.
Workshop Overview
In this workshop we will be using gel plates and craft presses to create eco printed monotypes on both fabric and paper which we will then collage and stitch to complete the piece.
Using local flora to eco print images onto paper with the boiling method and/or the press method will introduce more surprises. Exciting processes and techniques will produce unique work.
Be prepared to:
- print onto fabric and paper on day one
- use ink and stencils on day two, along with starting to stitch
- completing one piece of work on either paper or fabric on day three.
